Old Lady Podcast April 27, 2026
Welcome to the Old Lady Podcast!
Good morning, friends! Pour something delicious, grab whatever you’re knitting, and settle in, because this week we are leaning all the way into old lady hobbies and I regret nothing. First up, the saga of introducing Julia to Stardew Valley, which somehow turned into me hunched over a computer with a mouse for the very first time, learning to farm, fish, and click on things in the correct order. Did I thrive? Debatable. Did we have a blast? Absolutely.
Then there is the matter of sushi night at our beloved Yu/Me, where Julia and I did what we always do, which is order yellowtail in every conceivable form and call it a balanced meal. Sushi has been my great love since my dad first slid a piece of sashimi my way as a kid, and honestly, a bad week cannot survive a good yellowtail. I don’t make the rules.
I also have a book report for you, and friends, it is a mixed bag. I read two novels this week that landed squarely in meh territory, the kind of books where you keep going purely on momentum and a stubborn refusal to quit. I will get into the details, the disappointments, and the specific moments that made me sigh out loud. Sometimes the most fun book chats are about the ones that didn’t quite work.
And of course, the knitting report. Linda’s socks are off the needles and out into the world. I have cast on a fresh pair from Summer Lee’s newest book, The Sock Obsession, and I am expecting fresh yarn in the mail for my next project. Will it work? Who can say? Come hang out, hear all about it, and join me in the cozy chaos.
